Important Notice: Indoor Pool Update at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort

At The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort, our primary goal is to provide an exceptional experience for all our guests. We understand that our indoor pool is a valued amenity, cherished by many for relaxation and enjoyment.

Unfortunately, we must inform you that our indoor pool is currently broken and will undergo a full remodel.

Our Commitment to Your Experience

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause during your stay. Our team is dedicated to maintaining the high standards you expect from The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort, and we are working diligently to secure an appropriate solution.

Temporary Pool Access

During this time, we have arranged for our guests to use the pools at a nearby neighboring facility. We have chosen this temporary solution to ensure that you can still enjoy a refreshing swim or a relaxing dip despite the current situation. Detailed information about the alternative pool location will be provided upon your check-in, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience.

Additionally, The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort is nestled on the edge of the beautiful and clean Delaware River. Many guests enjoy swimming in the Delaware River, just off the shores of our historic resort. This natural option offers a unique and refreshing experience, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the stunning natural surroundings.  Life jackets for this experience are provided by stopping by our recreation base.

Future Plans for Our Indoor Pool

Exciting changes are on the horizon! We are in the process of finalizing a project for a brand-new indoor pool. This renovation will not only restore this beloved amenity but also enhance it.

We are committed to keeping you informed about the progress of this project. As soon as we have finalized the details and timelines for the installation of our new indoor pool, we will update this page with the latest information.

5 Reasons to Stay at Resorts Near Bushkill Falls

In the uplands of the Poconos Mountains, just a quick twenty minute trip from the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort, is Bushkill Falls, a privately-operated national attraction. The “Niagara of Pennsylvania,” Bushkill Falls is among the Keystone State’s most famous scenic attractions. This unique series of eight waterfalls, nestled deep in the wooded Pocono Mountains, is accessible through a network of hiking trails and bridges which afford fabulous views of the falls and the surrounding forest.

Bushkill Falls can accommodate both casual and experienced hikers. With easier trails for casual explorers and more intense trails for experienced trekkers. The main event is, of course, the falls themselves: a one-hundred foot drop that sends the crystal clear water of Bushkill Creek cascading down to another seventy-foot waterfall.

Bushkill Falls is open seasonal April through Mid-November, and offers a picnic area, gift shop, boating and fishing opportunities. No wonder it is such a popular attraction, but why choose to stay at resorts near Bushkill Falls? We listed five simple reasons below.

Your Choice of Specific Accommodations

Your standard hotel, might be able to offer you a room with one bed or two. However, at a resort like Shawnee, we can also offer you a private cottage, a glamping Poconos experience, or a place with a full kitchen and living room. You can check out all of Shawnee’s accommodations here.

On-Site Dining

Unlike a standard hotel, a resort offers on-site dining. At Shawnee, we have a bakery & café, a tavern, a restaurant, and our own brewery! You can roll out of bed and be down for breakfast in less than 5 minutes! We won’t even care if you’re still in your jammies! View hours and menus for our restaurants here.

Activities and Events

Resorts are known for their activities and events. At Shawnee we have a whole recreation team dedicated to making sure our guests have a great time. Offering things like guided hikes, outdoor archery, nature tours, golf cart tours, yoga, axe throwing, guided painting, and nightly campfires with s’mores! Our resort guide is a great resource in planning your daily itinerary. Check out our resort guide and recreation opportunities here.

We have free concerts every Tuesday by local musicians, and live entertainment in our taproom and beer garden every Thursday through Sunday. You can find the full line-up of entertainers on our event calendar.

Shawnee is close to many popular hiking trails, and our guided hikes are one of our most popular activities amongst guests.  To learn more about the best hikes in the Poconos as well as receive expert tips from our local guides, check out our hiking guide!

The Pool

Plain and simple…the pool. Shawnee’s pool is indoors and heated, making its availability year round. Shawnee also has a hot tub that you can soak in, maybe after that hike around the falls. Or perhaps you want to cool off in the River. Staying at Shawnee leaves you just steps away from the beautiful Delaware River.

The Location

Shawnee is so lucky to be in close proximity to many local attractions, such as Bushkill Falls, The Crossings Premium Outlets, Downtown Stroudsburg, multiple wineries and breweries, and the Delaware Water Gap Natural Recreation Area. But that’s not all, Shawnee is surrounded by the beauty of nature. The majestic mountains, the gently moving Delaware River, and the lush greenery that comes with it. Guests and staff all love the scenery that surrounds our historic resort.

Bonus Reason

This may not apply to every resort near Bushkill Falls, but Shawnee also has a championship Poconos golf course, a full service Spa and Salon, a fitness room, a business center, and offers several different River Trips (seasonally).

So if you’re ready to visit, consider staying with a resort near Bushkill Falls.

Live Music 7 Days a Week

If you are looking for live musical entertainment look no further than Shawnee. At the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort we offer live musical entertainment seven days a week from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Shawnee takes pride in helping support local artists. With genres ranging, from folk and bluegrass, jazz, pop, rock and roll, and country, you can hear it all at Shawnee.

What you need to know

Our live musical line-up can be found on our event calendar, below, and on our social media pages.

Music in the Tavern (The Gem and Keystone) runs from 5pm to 8pm every Monday and Wednesday.

Community Concert Series (Pavilion) is every Tuesday at 7pm. Community concerts are complimentary and open to the public, we just ask that you bring your own chair or blanket to enjoy this outdoor performance.

Can’t forget that Thursday nights at 7pm is Open Mic night at the ShawneeCraft Taproom or Beer Garden (weather permitting). Don’t be shy, come show us what you got!

And lastly, Rhythm and Brews runs Friday evenings at 7pm. Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm. As well as Saturdays evenings at 7pm with a Sunday evening performance at 6pm in the ShawneeCraft Taproom or Beer Garden.

We also offer live Piano music in the lobby of the Main Inn on Friday Evenings. Quite the welcome for guests checking in for a weekend stay!

Help Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Rot, Recycle…the five “R’s” to help reduce your carbon footprint. Reducing your carbon footprint means that you reduce the amount of carbon dioxide that is emitted due to your daily activities such as driving your car, buying products that are shipped from overseas, etc. As we get closer to Earthday, The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort is doing everything we can to help protect mother nature and reduce our carbon footprint. As a green resort, we have many programs in place to help us do just that.

What green efforts does The Shawnee Inn partake in?

  • Resort recycling includes cans, paper, cardboard, glass, and plastic. Throughout the resort, recycling is encouraged by both employees and guests.
  • We use china service rather than paper, plastic, or Styrofoam. We have eliminated the use of plastic straws as well.
  • Energy efficient light globes and LED lights are used when possible throughout hotel public areas and the back of the house.
  • We encourage staff and guests to switch off lights and air-conditioning when not in use.
  • Spring Maple tree tapping for production of our own Maple syrup.
  • Shawnee Island Farm™ – We developed a 25,000 square foot farm to supply fresh produce to our restaurants and kitchen. Daily tours available for our guests May through October.
  • Herb gardens for The Gem and Keystone Brewpub™ and the River Room
  • We will be reintroducing our own apiary again this year for fresh honey and to help with pollination and to increase the bee population.
  • We continue to maintain naturalized areas for birds and other wildlife on our golf course, as well as, using the Rain Bird System for irrigation.
  • Our mowers place clippings back into the ground helping to facilitate the growing process.
  • Signage is placed in our guest rooms to encourage re-use of towels and other linens to save water and reduce the use of laundry detergents.
  • We have installed new windows throughout the resort to improve energy use and lessen our carbon footprint.
  • We utilize Clean the World Soap Drive, a recycling program to help donate discarded hygiene products to impoverished people, helping to prevent millions of deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses every day.
  • In order to lessen our water usage low flush toilets were installed.
  • Automated in-room heating and cooling system are set to 24-hour activity mode –meaning that there has to be a movement to activate.

Annual River Road Clean-Up

River Road Clean Up

Twice a year, staff members along with lots of volunteers from our community take the time to pick up litter along an 11 mile stretch of River Road (the road in which Shawnee Inn is on).  Our Spring River Road Clean-Up will take place on Saturday, April 13th , 2024 at 9:45 am. You can register for the event here.

What can you do to reduce your carbon footprint?

Here are some simple things you can do at home or work to help reduce your carbon footprint:

  • Purchase organic and local foods that are in season. Your local farmer’s market is a great place to do this.
  • Freeze leftovers or compost your waste.
  • Carpool, ride a bike or walk to work if possible.
  • Use reusable containers and bags instead of one-use items.
  • Wash your clothes in cold water, and air dry versus using a dryer.
  • Purchase energy star appliances for your home.
  • Shut the lights off when you leave a room and unplug items that are not in use.
  • Switch incandescent light bulbs to LED bulbs.
  • Turn the temperature down on your water heater.
  • Purchase clothes from consignment, or purchase quality items that last longer and are not just a fashion piece.
