What to Pack for Your Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort Glamping Adventure in the Poconos

Planning a glamping getaway at the beautiful Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort? Nestled in the scenic Pocono Mountains, our riverside glamping experience combines the serenity of nature with the comfort of luxury camping. Whether you’re coming for a romantic escape, a solo retreat, or a fun weekend with friends, a little preparation goes a long way toward making your stay unforgettable. We’ve put together a helpful list of essentials to pack so you can relax, recharge, and enjoy every moment outdoors.

Start with footwear—bring both sturdy hiking boots for exploring the surrounding trails and a pair of water shoes (or shoes you don’t mind getting wet) for river adventures or dewy mornings. Long pants and extra socks are a must for staying comfortable during outdoor activities, especially in cooler temps or buggy areas. Add a sweatshirt or jacket for chilly evenings by the campfire, and don’t forget comfortable sleepwear for a restful night in your luxury tent.

Since the weather in the Poconos can change quickly, rain gear is always a smart addition to your bag, along with a swimsuit and towel in case you decide to take a refreshing dip in the beautiful Delaware River. Sun protection is key—pack sunscreen, chapstick, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses. Bug repellent will help keep the pests at bay, while ear plugs might be handy for those who aren’t used to nature’s nighttime symphony.

Remember your personal items, too. Toothbrush, toothpaste, any medications (plus extras just in case), a cellphone charger, and a reusable water bottle are all essentials. A flashlight might not be necessary as your tent has lamps in it, but you might want one if you adventure outside at night. Hand wipes or sanitizer are always good to have on hand as well. And finally, bring your sense of adventure—glamping at Shawnee Inn is about enjoying the beauty of the outdoors while still enjoying a few of the comforts you love.

Shawnee Mountain Plans Opening Day

Thanks to some nice cold temperatures and early snowmaking, Shawnee Mountain is preparing for it’s opening day, this Friday, December 6, 2024.

Shawnee Mountain will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 9am to 4pm for snowboarding and skiing. They will be closed midweek (Monday, December 9th through Thursday, December 12th) for additional snowmaking. They will re-open for the season on Friday, December 13th.

Double up deals (discounted tickets previously called Misers) are on sale now though December 5th at shawneemt.com.

Shawnee Mountain is located less than 3 miles from the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort.

Holiday Traditions at Shawnee

Article Published November 27, 2024 — Another year of Holiday Traditions kick off at Shawnee. This year’s Traditions begin with Shawnee’s Thanksgiving Buffet taking place on November 28^th. Also opening November 28th is our display of Creches from around the world. Christmas Tram Tours are back for their second season beginning Friday, November 29th and running until December 24th. Holiday Teas and Breakfast with Santa will take place on Saturday’s and Sunday’s in December respectively. George Frideric Handel’s Messiah will take place at the Fireside Community Concert on Friday, December 20th. And finally, Christmas will close out Shawnee’s Traditions with a grand Christmas Day Buffet.

“Beer Brat Sandwich”– Beer brat sauteed with beer braised onions and served in a Bavarian pretzel bun with Dusseldorf style mustard

“Sauerbraten Dinner”– marinated German Rhineland style beef roast, topped with a Gingersnap and golden raisin gravy, served with our homemade braised red cabbage with apple and hand shredded potato and onion pancake.

Pocono’s Autumn Tram Tours

Is there anything more beautiful than the Autumn changes happening in the Pocono Mountains? The Pocono’s Fall Foliage show is some of the best in the entire country, and the Shawnee Inn is nestled right in the heart of it all. While our resort offers many different options to view the foliage, and the beauty of the season, we now have 2 more options to enjoy this special time of year. New this year is our Harvest Tram Tour and our Haunted Tram Tour. Read below for more information on both of these exciting new tours.

Harvest Tram Tours

The perfect afternoon tour, this hour long ride takes you around the Shawnee Inn so you can enjoy our breathtaking view of the mountains and the fall foliage. Your ride will include a trip to the Shawnee Island Farm where you can note all the final produce, vegetables, and gourds being harvested at this time. Also, on the farm is our very own pumpkin patch. For an additional $10 you can select your own pumpkin and decorate it on the Vernada upon your return to the mainland.

Harvest Tram Tours are $25 per adult and $15 per child. Tours are approximately 1 hour long. Maximum of 12 people per tram.

Trams depart every hour at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm every Thursday through Sunday beginning September 27th and ending November 17th.

Our Buckwood Cafe will have delicious seasonal refreshments available such as hot and cold apple cider, hot chocolate, fresh baked cookies, popcorn and caramel apples! So be sure to stop by before or after your tour for a yummy treat!

Haunted Tram Tours

Prepare yourself for a thrilling one hour adventure at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort’s Haunted Tram Tour! Starting on October 11th and running every Friday and Saturday through November 2nd, with a special Halloween Night tour, this ride is sure to send shivers down your spine. Your journey begins at our historic Inn and travels through the eerie woods to Fort Depuy. Along the way you’ll encounter mysterious sights and sounds designed to keep you on edge.

Haunted Tram Tours are $30 per person, and approximately one hour long. Maximum of 12 people per tram. We do not recommend this tour for young children.

Trams depart every 30 minutes from 7pm to 10:30pm on the following dates:

October 25 and 26

October 31 – Halloween Special

November 1 and 2
