It is officially winter here at our Pocono’s Resort! And we have plenty of outdoor activities to keep you and your family entertained! You may be thinking, it’s cold in the Pocono’s what could I possibly want to do outside? Well, once you are here and see all the fun our other guests are having, you are going to want to partake in some of those activities. But not if you don’t have the right gear.

We compiled a list of the best cold weather items you’ll want to bring with you to enjoy the outdoors at our historic resort. And better yet, they don’t even have to take up much space in your suitcase.

We recommend bringing/wearing layers. Especially if you plan on taking one of our daily guided hikes. You might work up a sweat, even if it’s only 30 degrees out! Layers will allow you to make yourself comfortable. Thermal leggings can double as sleeping attire as well! And luckily for you, Shawnee has a washer and dryer available (pack a laundry pod or two and a few quarters) so you can wash any items that may have been soiled during your outdoor winter adventures.

Glamping With Style

It’s already the end of July and as usual, the summer is flying by. Soon the warm weather will be turning cooler, the leaves will be changing colors, and all our summer activities will be hibernating until next year. It’s always sad to see the summer coming to an end so quickly.

Shawnee has the perfect way to wrap up your summer vacation with friends, family, or both! Not everyone loves camping, but not everyone loves hotels either. The best way to compromise would be to do a little of both – glamping. A new take on luxurious camping, our glamping Poconos experience include high speed wi-fi, electricity, and sturdy tents filled with beds, comforters, and bedside tables.

Our Riverside Glamping sight overlooks the beautiful Delaware River on the North Lawn where it stays slightly secluded, but is also is still close to the Inn and all of the activities we have to offer. On our Shawnee Island is our Island Glamping site; guests arrive by canoe and includes a camp attendant, communal fire pit, and hammocks to lay and relax in. Island Glamping, although hard to access, is considered more isolated and removed from the hustle and bustle.

Midweek is the new weekend. When it comes to wedding planning, midweek weddings are the key to finding where you can cut those ever piling up costs. You have begun your wedding planning and every place you call, Saturdays are booked…the reality is Saturdays are usually booked more than a year in advance. So now what? Consider a midweek day, you will find more availability at more locations. Midweek weddings make it easier to have that special day fall on a predetermined special date such as an anniversary you’d like to continue as a married couple. You won’t have to worry if the 7th falls on a Saturday if you are open to tying the knot on a Friday or Sunday.
